Welcome to Dev Ceramic Studio, Worcester. Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before booking a class, course, private event, or applying for a studio membership. By accessing our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
These Terms apply to all individuals participating in any activity at our studio. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at our sole discretion. Significant changes will be communicated to you, and your continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
Governing Law: These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of United Kingdom.
2. BOOKINGS, PAYMENTS & CONTRACTS
When you purchase a service or product from us, a legally binding contract is formed upon the completion of the check-out/payment process.
Classes & Workshops: Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.
Pricing: We reserve the right to amend our prices at any time. The prices charged will be those listed on our website at the time of your booking.
Age Limits: For children’s specific courses, the minimum age is 6, and adult supervision is required. For all other courses, under-16s must be accompanied by a member, and individuals aged 16-18 require written parental consent.
3. CANCELLATIONS, TRANSFERS, AND REFUNDS
We operate a small business, and last-minute cancellations significantly impact our viability. Therefore, our cancellation policy is strictly enforced.
Customer Cancellations for Classes: All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email.
Cancellations: Cancellations made more than 7 days in advance will be offered a credit voucher. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours.
Transfers: You may transfer your booking to a friend or family member provided you notify us in writing in advance with their contact details.
Studio Cancellations: We reserve the right to cancel a session due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., tutor illness, low enrollment, force majeure). If we cancel, you will be offered a reschedule, or a credit voucher. We are not liable for secondary costs (e.g., travel or accommodation) incurred due to a cancellation.
4. ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY
Arrival: Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled start time to settle in.
Late Arrivals: Workshops run to a strict schedule. If you arrive late, your session cannot be extended.
Late Entry: A strict 30-minute cutoff applies. Arriving 30 minutes or more late will result in denied entry without a refund to prevent disruption to other students.
5. STUDIO MEMBERSHIPS
Minimum Term & Notice: Memberships continue on a rolling basis. To cancel, members must provide a written notice.
Memberships: A minimum term of 3 months applies to all memberships. A 1-month clear notice period is required for cancellations, and members are strictly limited to a maximum of 15 hours per week.
Suspension: Memberships may be paused for a maximum of 1 per year due to travel or illness, subject to an administrative fee.
6. HEALTH, SAFETY & CONDUCT
Pottery studios contain inherent hazards. By attending, you accept that participation is at your own risk. We are not liable for any injuries sustained on the premises unless caused by our direct negligence.
Inherent Risks: You acknowledge the risks of using sharp tools, exposure to high temperatures, and the breathing of silica dust.
Dress Code: Comfortable clothing and flat, closed-toe footwear are mandatory. For safety reasons, all participants using the potter’s wheel must ensure that long hair is securely tied back. Additionally, all rings, watches, bracelets, and dangling jewelry must be removed prior to beginning work on the wheel.
Substances: Participants must not attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Studio Hygiene & Cleaning: To maintain a safe environment and prevent silica dust, strict wet-cleaning protocols apply to studio members. Members are required to spend 20 minutes cleaning their station using the designated 3-bucket system; failure to comply with this policy will result in a 20% fee increase. All other students and visitors are required to exercise general care and ensure their workspaces are reasonably tidy after use.
7. FIRING, GLAZING & UNCOLLECTED WORK
Ceramics is an unpredictable medium. While we handle all pieces with the utmost care by experienced staff, we cannot guarantee the outcome of your work.
Firing Failures: We are not responsible for pieces that crack, break, warp, or suffer glaze imperfections during the firing process. You are not entitled to a refund for the class or firing fees if your piece fails in the kiln.
Firing & Material Fees: A designated firing allowance and access to studio glazes are included in the monthly fee for Studio Members. Class participants will be charged a separate material fee, which is calculated based on the final fired weight of their pieces.
Damage to Studio Equipment: If your piece damages our kilns (e.g., due to explosions or improper glaze application melting onto shelves), you will be held financially responsible for the repair or replacement of the kiln furniture.
Collection of Work: You will be notified via email when your work is ready.
Firing & Material Fees: A designated firing allowance and access to studio glazes are included in the monthly fee for Studio Members. Class participants will be charged a separate material fee, which is calculated based on the final fired weight of their pieces.
8. KILN HIRE & PRIVATE BOOKINGS
Kiln Hire: Hirers are responsible for their own pieces. Hire includes access to the kiln only, not technical assistance, storage, or access to studio glazes.
Private Events: Group bookings are only confirmed once a deposit has been paid. Final participant numbers and full payment must be settled 14 days prior to the event.
9. GIFT CARDS & VOUCHERS
All gift cards and vouchers are strictly non-refundable.
Voucher Expiry: All vouchers are valid for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Please note that no reminders will be issued regarding expiration.
10. LIABILITY & DATA PROTECTION
Personal Belongings: We accept no responsibility for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings, clothing, or valuables brought into the studio.
Food Safety: We are not liable for any illness caused by eating or drinking out of vessels produced in the studio, as we cannot guarantee they are perfectly food-safe.
Data Protection: Your personal data will be processed strictly in accordance with GDPR. We will only use your information to manage your booking and will not share it with third parties.
Photography: We occasionally take photos or videos for social media and marketing. We will always ask for verbal or written permission prior to doing so.
